Deck Printing Tips

Paper Type

You can print the decks on plain paper if you like, but they will not be very sturdy - which may be ok for you.  I use 60lb card stock which gives them a sturdier feel.  However, your printer may not work with card stock.  Not all printers do.  So, before you spend money on card stock, make sure your printer will work with it.  Laminated paper would be sturdier if your printer only works with regular paper.

Double sided printing

If you will be printing the back sides of the cards as wells the fronts, you will need to know how to orient the paper in the printer properly.  Print one page out and then put it back on the top in the paper tray to print out the other side.  If it doesn't come out right the first time, change the direction you place the paper in the paper tray.  The way that my printer works is I take the first print out of the printer exactly as it is and place it back on top in the paper tray.  I don't turn the paper in any direction.  I just pick it up and put it back down in the paper tray to be printed on again.  Your printer may work this way or it may not.  Figure out how it works before printing out all the cards so that you don't waste a bunch of paper.

Lamination

If you would like your cards to be sturdier or you just want to protect them, you may want to laminate them. You can use self-laminating sheets if you don't have a laminator.  For the best seal around the edges, you may want to cut out the cards individually first and then laminate.  If you laminate the entire sheet and then cut, the edges can be a bit loose.  For best results, run it through a thermal laminator a few times on heat before cutting each out.  You can also just laminate on one side only, but still run through the laminator a few times first.  For my premade decks, I laminate on one side only because I find that it yields the best result.

Help!  It's All Too Much!

If the DIY version isn't going to work for you, just purchase a premade deck that gets shipped to you.  Already bought the digital copy?  No worries.  There's an upgrade item for purchase in the Premade Deck Collection that will allow you to choose the deck you want as well as the options you want while deducting the price you already paid for the digital copy.
